Commie Lee Garrett was born to the late Will Brown and Jessie Little on November 16, 1911 in Webster County, Georgia. She was called to rest at 1:45 A.M. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Four County Health Care Center, Richland, Georgia.
At a very early age, she joined the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Preston, Georgia, where she faithfully attended until her health failed; she still remained connected to the church that she so dearly loved until her passing. "Ma Commie", as everyone knew her, was the wife of the late George Garrett, Sr. of Preston, Georgia. She was the mother of nine children. Six children, Dorothy Kelly Blackmon, Eddie C. Johnson, Ulysses Johnson, Prother Lee Griffin, McArthur Garrett, and John Wayne Johnson, preceded her in death. Two brothers, Henry Lee Jordan of Richland, Georgia and William Wright, Sr. of Preston, Georgia, and two sisters, Johnnie Will Johnson of Leesburg, Florida and Alberta Walker of Jacksonville, Florida, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Andrew Fred Johnson (Elizabeth) and George Edward Garrett, Jr. of Richland, Georgia; one daughter, Gloria Jean Morris of Ft. Pierce, Florida; thirty-three grandchildren, seventy great-grandchildren, fifty-one great-great grandchildren, and twenty-nine great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many dear friends.
