Mr. David Lee Chester of 678 Broad Street, Richland, Georgia passed away on September 9, 2010 at Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at New St. Mark Baptist Church, Richland, Georgia. The burial will follow in Bryant Cemetery, Richland, Georgia.
David Lee, "Mack", "Sawdust" Chester was born January 20, 1938 in Richland, Georgia to the late Dave Chester and the late Mahallie Cummings Williams Chester. He departed this life on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, GA. Preceding him in death were a son, Gregory Chester, oldest brother, Jerome Williams, Jr., sisters,Floretta Williams Palmore, Viola Williams Harris Smith, and Lula Mae Williams Roberts.
At an early age, David Lee joined the Upper Sardis Missionary Baptist, Richland, GA. He was a 1958 graduate of Richland High and Industrial School. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army. After his service in the army, he married his high school sweetheart, Willie Maude Baldwin, and to this union four children were born (listed below). David Lee began working for the Richland Coca Cola Bottling Company, following that he became a supervisor in the Fort Benning Main Mess Hall. He later worked and retired from T & R Custom Modular Homes, Ellaville, GA.
David Lee "Mack", "Sawdust" was an avid sportsman, enjoying basketball (HS), hunting, fishing, and especially baseball. In his young adult life, he enjoyed playing baseball with the local community team.
Left to cherish loving memories are a devoted wife of 50 years, Willie Maude Baldwin Chester, Richland, GA; two sons Lawrence Anthony Chester (Ludie Will), Lumpkin, GA and Marlon Dwayne Chester, Richland, GA; one daughter, Terri Lajuana Chester Askew (Willie); three grandchildren, Christopher B. Askew and Abria Mashon Askew all of Richland, GA, and Kalisha Chester, Detroit, MI; two sisters, Arcola Williams Thornton, Phoenixville, PA and Priscilla Chester Barrington, Richland, GA; one brother Daniel Chester, Richland, GA; Mother in-law, Ferry Lee Jackson, Four County Nursing Facility, one brother-in-law, Alfred Jackson (Mary), Buena Vista, GA; two sisters-in-law, Angela Harris (Ray), Americus, GA and Edith Williams, Mattapan, MA; and a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
