Deacon Johnnie B. Williams, Sr. was born January 8, 1918, to the late Mr. Sandy Williams and the late Mrs. Eula Bell Williams in Stewart County, Georgia.
At an early age, he professed and accepted Christ and joined the St. Mark Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years. He became the oldest deacon to serve at St. Mark.
Early in life, he married the love of his life, Lillie Mae Harvey on December 26, 1936. To this union, twelve children were born. Three children died at birth and his oldest son, Jimmy Lee Williams, preceded him in death on August 4, 2012. His wife, Mrs. Lillie Williams, of seventy-eight years also preceded him in death. He worked tirelessly to raise his family. For many years, he was a farmer and construction worker.
Deacon Johnnie leaves to cherish fond memories: three daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Mathais of Conyers, Georgia, Mrs. Jacquelyn (Sam) Henderson of Decatur, Georgia, and Mrs. Helen (Johnny) Grier of Covington, Georgia; five sons Mr. George (Gloria) Williams of Weston, Georgia, Mr. Thomas (Armar) Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Willard Williams of Conyers, Georgia, Mr. Johnny B. Williams, Jr. of Weston, Georgia, and Mr. Willie J. Williams of Weston, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Williams of Richland, Georgia; thirty-two grandchildren, fifty-eight great-grandchildren, and thirty-six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mark Baptist Church, Weston, Georgia. Interment Service will follow in St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery.
