Mr. Jimmie Lee "Stroller" Mahone, Jr. of 6670 Hampton Street, Preston, Georgia, passed away on June 29, 2010 at VistaCare @Franciscan Woods, Columbus, Georgia.
The burial service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Preston, Georgia. The burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Preston, Georgia.
Mr. Jimmie Lee Mahone, Jr. was born March 26, 1951 in Webster County, Georgia, to the parentage of Jimmie Lee Mahone, Sr. and Willie Pearl Tolbert Mahone (both parents preceded him in death).
"Stroller", as he was called by family and friends, was an avid fisherman and gardener. He would bring life to any plant. Nurturing flowers was his specialty since that was what he loved to do.
He leaves to cherish his memories: six children, Michelle Slaughter (Eddie) of Richland, Georgia, Daphane Mahone (Leneskil), Letonya Mahone, and Ashley Mahone, all of Augusta, Georgia, Gerald Jackson, and Anthony Floyd, both of Clearwater, Florida; nine grandchildren; step-mother, Lucille Harrell (Walter) of Richland, Georgia; three sisters, Mary "Cookie" Taylor (Eddie Rich), Teresa Martinez (Salvador), both of Richland, Georgia, and Catherine Simmons (Bill) of Lumpkin, Georgia; (one sister, Shirley Townsend, preceded him in death); three brothers, Willie Frank Thomas of Clearwater, Florida, Reginald Thomas (Kim) of Smith, Alabama, and Darrell Thomas (Latoya) of Columbus, Georgia; three aunts, Maxie Lee (Juslus Frank) of Columbus, Georgia, Joan Williams of Preston, Georgia, and Juanita Gardner of Ellaville, Georgia; a special aunt, Mary Lyles of Richland, Georgia; an uncle, Joe Lee Williams of Richland, Georgia; a special uncle, George Lyles, Sr. of Preston, Georgia; (one uncle, Johnnie Will Lyles, preceded him in death); a special friend, Margaret Givens of Augusta, Georgia; best friends, Melvin Banks and Mattie Majors, both of Preston, Georgia, and Willie Frank Thomas of Clearwater, Florida; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
