Laura Thornton Obituary

Mrs. Laura Thornton of 184 MLK Jr Drive, Richland, Georgia, passed away on March 17, 2010 at Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Brooklyn, Georgia. The burial service will follow in Bryant Cemetery, Richland, Georgia.

A Time To Be Born:
Mrs. Laura Thornton was born to the late Mr. Tom Jones and the late Mrs. Annie Lee Josey Jones on April 28, 1934 in Webster County, Georgia.

A Time To Plant:
Before her journey to be with the Lord, Mrs. Thornton joined Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois under the leadership of Reverend Joseph Wells.

A Time To Love:
To the union of Mr. Alexander and Mrs. Laura Thornton, three children were born. Laura will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

A Time To Rest:
On March 17, 2010, God claimed His precious flower from the garden and called her home.

A Time To Remember:
She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Loretta (Carl) Pearce, Sr. and Connie Thornton (Stanley) of Richland, Georgia; one son, Michael Thornton of Richland, Georgia; one stepson, Whitney Thornton of Matteson, Illinois; six grandchildren, Carl (Virginia) Pearce, Jr. of Richland, Georgia, Michael (Denise) Pearce of Lumpkin, Georgia, Jermaine Pearce, Nakeviush Pearce, and Octavia "Shay" Iverson of Richland, Georgia, and Michael Sanders of Chicago, Illinois; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (Malik) Ihsaan of Mobile, Alabama, Dottie Lowe of Columbus, Georgia, and Aleen (Kenny) Culpepper of Richland, Georgia; (One sister, Evelyn Horne, preceded her in death.) five brothers, Clarence (Sharon) Lowe, Jr. and Melvin (Linda) Lowe of Richland, Georgia, Hudson (Kathy) Lowe of Jackson, Mississippi, Lucious (Betty) Brogden of Richland, Georgia, and Thomas Lowe of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one aunt, Lilla Ree Jordan of Richland, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
