Mr. Leroy Roland Mathis of 6072 Georgia Highway 41 South, Buena Vista, Georgia, died on February 19, 2010 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Evans Chapel C.M.E. Church, Preston, Georgia. The burial will follow at Evans Chapel C.M.E. Church Cemetery.
Mr. Leroy Roland Mathis was born March 27, 1937, to the parentage of Mr. Henry Lewis Mathis and Mrs. Mary Massengale Mathis in Marion County.
Mr. Mathis completed his education in the Marion County School System. He was a member of Evans Chapel C.M.E. Church, Preston, Georgia, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. He enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for eight years and traveled to different parts of the world. He later returned to Georgia with his family and worked various jobs until his retirement.
His wishes were completed by his family as he departed this life on February 19, 2010 at his home.
Surviving his departure and left to cherish his memories are: a wife, Mrs. Annie Elsie Mathis of Buena Vista, Georgia; three children, Rev. Andre' L. Mathis, Mrs. Anne Elsa (a devoted son-in-law, Milton) Crawford, and Ms. Genesia Mathis of Buena Vista, Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Campbell of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Florence Carver of Brooklyn, New York, and Mrs. Claudia (Sam) Bell of Brooklyn, New York; six sisters-in-law, Mrs. Orzolo Mathis of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Army Wilson and Mrs. Mollie S. Wells of Preston, Georgia, Ms. Nellie Smith of Miami, Florida, Mrs. Willie Mae Porter and Mrs. Fadonia McMeans of Pompano Beach, Florida; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Willie Curtis Smith of Pompano Beach, Florida and Mr. Joseph Wilson, Jr. of Preston, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
