Louise Riggins Obituary

Ms. Louise Mae Riggins of 5499 Highway 41 North, Preston, Georgia, passed away on April 7, 2010 at Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Preston, Georgia. The burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Preston, Georgia.


Ms. Louise Riggins was born August 26, 1916 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Mr. Edward Riggins and the late Mrs. Carrie Ford Riggins. On April 7, 2010, God picked His perfect flower from Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, Georgia.

At an early age, she joined St. Mark A.M.E. Church, Plains, Georgia. She later moved her membership to Shiloh Baptist Church, Preston, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Elder Joe Louis Miller of Ellaville, Georgia; six grandchildren, Ms. Debra Miller of Plains, Georgia, Mr. John (Tracey) Miller, Mr. Marvin Miller of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Wilfred (Norma) Chambliss of Lyons, Georgia, Mr. Isaac Merritt, and Ms. Sakeitha Jackson of Americus, Georgia; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Leola Colbert, Mrs. Bessie Crimes, Mrs. Lucille (Gene) Merritt, all of Preston, Georgia, Mrs. Pearl (Frank) McGarrah of Plains, Georgia, Mrs. Alberta Miles of Richland, Georgia, and Mrs. Martha Harris of Seale, Alabama; two brothers, Mr. Siscro Riggins of Preston, Georgia and Mr. Starling Riggins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, a goddaughter, Mrs. Clara P. (Joseph) Miller of Ft. Mitchell, Alabama; a godson, Mr. McArthur Smith of Americus, Georgia; other relatives, two devoted friends, Ms. Queen Flowers and Ms. Ann Hall, both of Preston, Georgia, and other friends.
