Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Psalm 90: 1-2

Mr. Major Wright, Jr. was born December 17, 1927 to the late Mr. Major Wright, Sr. and the late Mrs. Claudia Tiggett Wright.

He spent his entire life in the Mt. Airy community, where he was an avid gardener and farmer.

At an early age, he joined Mt. Airy Baptist Church and was baptized in Patula Creek on the first Saturday in August with a large gathering for the occasion.

After he grew up, he met and married Miss Queen Esther Snelling. This union was blessed with thirteen children, three daughters and ten sons.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, Daisy (Willie) McCoy, Diane (Tommy) Durham, and Janice (Eric) Dent; ten sons, Lee (Marilyn) Wright, James Wright, Daniel Wright, Randy Wright, Stanley (Rhonda) Wright, Anthony Wright, Michael Wright, Fredrick Wright, Edrick (Patricia) Wright, and Terrance (Marissa) Wright; thirty-eight grandchildren, and thirty-one great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Jordan, Cora Belton, and Hazel (Herman) Anderson; three brothers, Jimmy (Ethel) Wright, Charlie (Hazel) Wright, and Willie James Wright; (Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death: Lucious Wright, Herbert Wright, Fairy Davis, Precious Evans, and Freddie Newson); two additional sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowful friends.

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men. For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. Psalm 90: 3-4
