Mamie Clark Obituary

Mrs. Mamie L. Clark of 1130 Ballpark Avenue, Dawson, Georgia, passed away on April 21, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Cuthbert, Georgia. The burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Preston, Georgia.



Mrs. Mamie Lue Clark, the daughter of the late Nelson Walton and the late Emma Lue Lowe Walton, was born on July 4, 1929 in Terrell County, Georgia. She departed this life on April 21, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia.

She attended Rosenwald School in Preston, Georgia. At an early age, she joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Preston, Georgia. Later in her life, she became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and remained loyal until death. She married the late James Clark, and they were blessed with nine children. She was a homemaker and a dedicated caregiver.

One daughter, Janie Mae Clark and one grandson, Reginald Clark, preceded her in death. Five sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death: Virginia Warren, Faltha Mae Moses, Minnie Lee Nash, Zora Mae Manuel, Geraldine Battle, Willie C. Walton, and Rudoulph Brown.

Precious memories will always be cherished by eight loving children: Arthur (Rena) Clark, Velma Clark, and Joseph (Bertha) Clark, all of Dawson, Georgia, Leonard (Barbara) Clark of St. Augustine, Florida, Ida Louise (Joseph) Thomas, John Henry (Annie Bell) Clark, and Walter Clark, all of Dawson, Georgia, and Deborah (William) Johnson of Newton, Mississippi; eighteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Nell Walton of Albany, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Betty Walton, Plains, Georgia and Johnnie Mae Jackson of Trenton, Florida; one brother-in-law, Robert Jackson of Trenton, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
