Mrs. Willie Gibson was born on July 11, 1926, in Lumpkin, Georgia and departed this life at her home in Richland, Georgia on August 15, 2018.
For over forty years, Mrs. Gibson was a resident of Harlem, New York, for ten years, Newport News, Virginia, and for fourteen years, her hometown of Richland, Georgia. Mrs. Gibson accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and practiced her Christian faith to the utmost of her abilities.
She loved her family, was an avid reader, and loved to do crossword puzzles. In early years, she and her husband would travel frequently to Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Her husband, John Gibson; her mother, Edna Gaines; her father, William Gaines; her brothers, Leonard Gaines, Sr. and Fred Gaines; her sister, Edith Gaines; and her granddaughter, Katherine Scott, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, JoAnn Gibson (Pierre); two grandchildren, Xavier Nicole Scott and Brianna Scott; six sisters, Imell McCarthy (George), Barbara Johnson, Joan Donner Johnson (Ron), Bernice Gaines, Margie Johnson (David), and Mary Hawkins; one brother, Greg Gaines; a close friend, Ms. Freddie Mae Baxter; a favorite great nephew, Miles Greene; and a host of other relatives, friends, and associates.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Bryant Cemetery, Richland, Georgia.
