Ms. Marcia Mechelle Jones

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:" II Timothy 4:7

On Sunday, March 11, 2018, God in his infinite wisdom plucked another special flower from his flower garden. Marcia Jones, known as Mechelle to those who loved and knew her, departed this life at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia. Mechelle was born on January 23, 1964, in Richland, Georgia to the parentage of Mr. Willie Jones and Mrs. Annie Lee Humber Jones.

At an early age, Mechelle confessed her faith in Christ and joined St. John A.M.E. Church, Richland, Georgia. Later years, she moved her membership to Bethel A.M.E. Church, Richland, Georgia where she served faithfully in many capacities. She served as treasurer, budget officer, and assistant Sunday school teacher. Mechelle never met a stranger. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mechelle loved God, her church, her family, and her numerous godchildren. Watching the antics of her godchildren brought great joy to her life.

Mechelle was educated in the Stewart County School System and was a graduate of Stewart-Quitman High School Class of 1982. Upon graduation, she attended Milledgeville College, Milledgeville, Georgia for three years majoring in journalism. For numerous years, she was a committed employee to Woodgrain Millworks, Inc., Albany, Georgia where she worked as an executive assistant, production control, fleet dispatcher, and logistic coordinator.

Her father, Mr. Willie Jones; her mother, Mrs. Annie Lee Jones; and her brother, Rev. Herbert Jones, preceded her in death.

Mechelle leaves to cherish her fond memories: one sister, Ms. Willie Ann Jones of Dawson, Georgia; four brothers, Mr. Samuel Jones of Richland, Georgia, Mr. James Jones of Dothan, Alabama, Mr. Howard Jones (Gwen) of Richland, Georgia, and Mr. Rickey Jones (Carol) of Bloomfield, Connecticut; two aunts, Mrs. Nora Jones of Richland, Georgia and Mrs. Betty McGee of Hartford, Connecticut; two nieces, Amber Jones of Richland, Georgia and Karmeshala Jones of Columbus, Georgia; four nephews, Cedric Jones of Indianapolis, Indiana, Brian Jones of Lexington, Kentucky, Joshua Jones of Richland, Georgia, and Matthew Jones of Richmond, Virginia; numerous godchildren, and many sorrowing cousins, other relatives, and friends.Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Richland,Georgia. Interment Service will follow in Bethel A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
