Ms. Margie Tolbert Obituary


Ms. Margie R. Tolbert was born on March 13, 1943, in Lumpkin, Georgia to the parentage of the late Johnny Tolbert and the late Marie Tolbert. She departed this life on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Mercer Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She attended the Stewart County Public Schools in Lumpkin, Georgia. At an early age, *Marjorie*, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined St. Phillip Baptist Church, Lumpkin, Georgia, where she sang in the choir. For many years, she worked for Dr. Marion Pugh in Lumpkin, Georgia where she rendered healthcare to numerous people in and around the Stewart County community.

Later years, Margie relocated to Lawton, Oklahoma to be closer to her family. There, she was employed at Fort Sill Reynolds Army Community Hospital for twenty-seven years. Also, she attended Union Baptist Church, Lawton, Oklahoma.

Other than her parents, her brothers, Joseph Tolbert, L.C. Thomas, and Arthur Thomas; her sister, Curlie Mae Hubbard, her cousin who was reared as her sister, Queen Esther Askew Scott Powell, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her sister, Gwendolyn Harris (Darnell deceased), Lawton, Oklahoma; Johnnie Mae Houston, Irvington, New Jersey, Thelma Houston Cannon, Box Hall, New Jersey; her niece, Donna Lyle (Donald), Richmond Hill, Georgia; special nieces, Marilyn Tolbert, Columbus, Georgia, Shannon Aguilar, Columbus, Georgia, Chabela Aguilar, Richmond Hill, Georgia, Danielle Harris, Lawton, Oklahoma, Saysha Greene, Hackensack, New Jersey, Olinka Greene, Box Hall, New Jersey, Dominique Mulraine and Shaniqua Mulraine, Columbus, Georgia, Jacqueline Houston, Union City, New Jersey; special nephew, Darnell Harris, Jr.; special cousins, Micheal Pete Thomas, Atlanta, Georgia, Alvin Hubbard, Alabama, Helen Bardge, Lumpkin, Georgia, Willie Pearl Thomas, North Carolina, Shirley Stewart, Tampa, Florida, and Ruby Jones, Richland, Georgia; a special friend, Harold McKee, Lawton, Oklahoma; other friends, Cassandra Dorsey, Vicksburg, Virginia, Gennet Sheppard, Richland, Georgia, Ernestine Powell, Lumpkin, Georgia, Minnie Walton, Lumpkin, Georgia; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church, Lumpkin, Georgia. Interment Service will follow in St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
