Mr. Robert Lee Johnson, Sr. of 99 Overby Dr., Richland, Georgia, formerly of Preston, Georgia, passed away on December 10, 2009 at Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at T.V. Williams Funeral Home Chapel, Richland, Georgia. The burial service will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Richland, Georgia.
Obituary
Mr. Robert Lee Johnson, Sr., affectionately known as "Bunk Pelman", was born to the parentage of the late Mr. Perry Johnson and the late Mrs. Emma Slaughter Johnson on March 1, 1928.
Mr. Johnson attended the public schools of Webster County. He worked as a logger until his health failed. He was known all over Webster County and Stewart County for his love of fishing.
The last living survivor of five siblings, he departed this life on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, Georgia. Siblings who preceded him in death were: Mrs. Hattie Mae Hightower, Mrs. Essie Mae Jones, Mrs. Freddie Mae West, Mrs. Sally Mae Dew, and Mr. Willie James Johnson.
He leaves to mourn his passing seven children: Mrs. Hattie (Rev. Freddie) Mann, Mr. Robert Lee Johnson, Jr., Mr. Eddie Charles Johnson, and Mrs. Ira Bell (Shelly) Tyson all of Americus, Georgia, Ms. Christine Johnson and Mr. Leonard Johnson of Hawkinsville, Georgia, and Mr. Michael Johnson of Columbus, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Mr. Allen West of Preston, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Phillis Johnson of Preston, Georgia; twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends also survive.
