Ms. Selika Mitchell of 73 Platt Road, Lumpkin, Georgia, passed away March 19, 2010 at Stewart-Webster Hospital, Richland, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Green Grove Baptist Church, Lumpkin, Georgia. The burial service will follow in Green Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Selika "Beanie" Williams Mitchell was born on August 24, 1958 to the late Earl and Sybil Williams in New Orleans, Louisiana. Selika was blessed to have a second set of loving parents, the late Homer and Gladys Dalton of Lumpkin, Georgia. On Friday, March 19, 2010, Selika made the transition into eternal rest.
She was a dedicated and faithful Deaconess of Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Selika also served as the Conductress of Starlight Chapter No. 218, Order of the Eastern Star. On August 8, 1999, Selika was united in holy matrimony to Earl Mitchell. From this union, she acquired a daughter, Trena (Alphonse) Jones, Sr. of Slidell, Louisiana. She raised three boys, Quinton Wright, Terrence Smith, and Tyrese Jordan, Lumpkin, Georgia. Selika was a warmhearted person who was always ready to assist anyone in need. She was a wonderful day-care provider for many kids in the area. She was affectionately known as "Maw Beanie" to most of her kids who have grown to love and cherish her. Selika loved all the kids at her day-care and each one of them holds a special place in her heart.
(Two brothers, Robert and Earl "June" Williams, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four sisters, Cheryl (John) Chandler, Marietta, Georgia, Sheila (Glenn) Woodruff, New Orleans, Louisiana, Dorothy (Herbert) Major, Charleston, South Carolina, and Tonnya Smith, Columbus, Georgia; one brother, Darrell (Tara) Williams, New Orleans, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Alexandria and Alphonse Jones, Jr.; and a host of family, other relatives, and friends.
