Mr. Willie Sam (Kennie) Perry of 52 Crawford Road, Parrott, Georgia, formerly of Newark, New Jersey, passed away April 17, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark Baptist Church, St. Mark Road, Weston, Georgia.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. at Woody HOME FOR SERVICES,Inc., 163 Oakwood Avenue, Orange, New Jersey. The funeral service will follow immediately after viewing at 10:00 A.M. The burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Willie Sam Perry was born on Wednesday, May 19, 1915 in Weston, GA to the late William and Leola Evans Perry.
"Kennie", as he was affectionately known, was baptized at the St. Mark Baptist Church in Weston, GA at an early age.
He moved to New Jersey in 1940 and remained there until his health began to decline. In October 2006, he moved with his sister, the late Mary Amos, where he remained until his demise on Saturday, April 17, 2010.
Kennie served in the US Navy from October 4, 1943 and was discharged December 12, 1945. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was married to the late Johnnie Bell Amos Perry on August 9, 1943 who preceded him in death on December 24, 1991. Kennie was the oldest of his siblings; two preceded him in death, brother, James S Perry and sister, Mary F Perry Amos.
He was employed as a Certified Journeyman Tool and Die Maker/Machinist with the Wallace & Tiernan Production Company in Bellview, New Jersey for several years. He retired in July 1980.
Kennie was an avid reader, had strong work ethics, loved the park, and was very family oriented. He played a vivid role in the lives of his nieces and nephews.
He leaves ten devoted caregivers (nieces and nephews) to mourn and cherish loving memories: Willie James Amos, Henry Frank (Katie) Amos, Lola Amos Francis, Johnnie Amos Adderley, Mable Amos, Georgie Amos Humphery, Thelma Amos Davis, Walter C Amos, Sr., Alvonia Amos Bennett, and Malik (Karen) Saleem; nieces and nephews, Florence West, Diane West, Lavon West (SJ) Underwood, Arthur (Arlene) West, Clara Amos Gay, and David Perryman; He leaves several great and great-great nieces and nephews who adored him dearly. He leaves one uncle, Roosevelt Garrett, numerous cousins, other relatives and friends, including Johnnie Jordan, a devoted caretaker and cousin.
